Toscano of the Living Dead

Toscano Zombie

Okay, so everybody keeps sending me this zombie, which apparently is for sale at Toscano. Toscano is my second-favorite catalog after Hammacher Schlemmer. Because 99% of the stuff in there is just so over the top. I will say that I will make heavy use of them when I finally get my Safari Room.

Anyway, while I appreciate the concept of a lawn zombie, apart from the grey complexion of this individual, there's nothing particularly zombie about him. He could just as well have been a guy living in a black and white subterranean world who just clawed his way to the surface and is freaked to find that either the world above is in color or that Legend Films got a hold of his home.

Granted, "zombie" is a much simpler, Occam-friendly solution. But I dunno, he looks a lot like me when I greet the Dayball on those rare occasions I leave the Technocave. Maybe I'm too close to this.

Found via Boing Boing and the many people who sent it over.

Check It Out, I'm Like a Buzzball
Posted on 07.05.08 by Widge @ 6:20 pm

I feel like a hamster in a cage during most of my life anyway...would I really want to get inside a giant, motorized hamster ball?

Um...yeah. Yeah, I think I would.

If the people who are promoting Disney's upcoming Bolt don't try to include this in their marketing somehow, then they're mental.

Also, can this technology be used to advance getting me my very own War Wheel? Because I still need one of those.

Direct link for the feedreaders.

Wait, one last thought: is this thing, for hamsters, what giant car-crushing bigfoot trucks are to humans?

Found at Laughing Squid via Dark Roasted Blend.

Terror on Your Bedside Table

I know you're thinking that this is more comical than evil. And I would agree--having read the post over at Wired, you'd think surely it was hyperbole. While this is annoying as hell, surely it can't be as evil as they're making it out to be.

But then you watch the video--and you know. It's not this thing being annoying or loud that would wake me up--it's the fact its eyes are so bright they shine through the thing's eyelids. That isn't even Wrong.

Ms. Cephalopodina brooch from Paraphernalia

Your guide to cool things online. That are black. Because black goes with everything.

  • A whale flower vase designed by Alessandro Bêda. (Found via Neatorama.)
  • Double diamond stingray belts from the Torino Leather Company. Found via Playboy. Which just proves that I read the thing for the articles.
  • Monty Python Black Knight t-shirt, complete with red boar insignia on the front.
  • The Ms. Cephalopodina Brooch (pictured). Granted, it does have a great deal of white on it. But. The proper young woman has a pod on her head. How can we resist? Found via CraftZine.
  • Excellent shirt from Diesel Sweeties that speaks to the lonely nerd in all of us.

    Pimp My Mixer!
Posted on 05.28.08 by Cosette @ 4:46 pm

    Pimp my Mixer!

Okay, full disclosure first: We don't actually have a KitchenAid mixer here in the Technocave (nor in its attached compound). They are wonderous things, however, and I almost one to rush out and buy one because I'm inspired. Inspired to PIMP A MIXER!!

FlameKA.com makes artisan bread, and felt that the mixers they were using were just too ordinary and needed some pizazz. Thus, the flame mixer decals were born. You can buy their flame decals (and others, including roses, chili peppers, butterflies, and my favorite, one that makes your mixer look like a shark bomber from WWII) here. They also have a gallery of other pimped-out mixers, including Joel Cory's shown above here.
