And Dindrane, if you smile any bigger the top of your head will fall off. Remember what happened last time. Anyway. Geneon threw some titles our way, so here's the skinnee. The first three you see up there streeted on 5/24. Hanaukyo Maid Team: La Verite, Vol. 3: Saving Mariel is more antics of Taro and his, well, legion of maids. Poor guy. That disc comes with four episodes, clean series ending, original Japanese opening and ending, and a limited edition mini-pencil board. Next is Rumiko Takahashi Anthology, Vol. 3: A Touch of Magic, three episodes of tales of older ladies and the supernatural. This volume comes with a production art gallery. And lastly for that date, there's Star Ocean EX, Vol. 3: Magical Moonlit Flowres and I swear if that girl on the cover doesn't open both eyes, she might run into something. This also comes with a limited edition mini-pencil board, four episodes, and character profiles. ![]() ![]() ![]() For 5/31, there's two titles that showed up today. First is New Getter Robo, Vol. 2: The Yin-Yang Master, in which the most badass robots on the planet need to take down some monsters, but they need the most badass pilots on the planet to do it. This time around it's some alternate reality action in three episodes, with textless closing and a music clip. And also there's the third volume of Samurai Champloo, which for some reason makes me think of Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn facing off with katana blades. Which, you know, might be pretty cool. This comes with four episodes. Finally, one that streeted on 6/14, the second volume of Koi Kaze, Budding Attraction. This is the slightly uncomfortable but non-hentai (from what I've read anyway) tale of a doomed relationship between a brother and a sister who didn't realize to begin with they were related. Yeah, it's complicated. Comes with five episodes. Buy them from Amazon... Categorized as: DVD and Headsup

It will continue to exist as a convention-only publication, with periodic issues available in a stripped down, free version at Waldenbooks and Borders Books. This smaller format will essentially only have reviews and infrequent micro features. Subscribers will have their subscriptions transferred over to Shojo Beat. If you've already subscribed to Shojo Beat (and of course you have), they'll just extend that subscription with the number of issues you had left on your Animerica subscription. As an addendum, they recently won their case against the porn company that was using animerica.com as their website, meaning that if you go to animerica.com, you'll be immediately forwarded to their real website, which is and has always been animerica-mag.com. Soon, they plan on relocating to animerica.com and having updated content, fora, etc. So otaku, weep not....Animerica will be staying around, in an albeit much abbreviated form, and we have the promise of a website and Shojo Beat to balm our sad tears. It streets on 6/28 and has "some of the most repackageable moments" across three discs. It has the Election Night coverage ("Prelude to a Recount"), convention coverage for both personalities of the one party we have here in America, debate coverage, an intro by Jon Stewart, commentaries and more. Lots more. Considering the box itself is funnier than most of what's on television ("May Be Unsuitable for VCR Owners" and "For letterbox, please tape cardboard to the top and bottom of your TV screen"), it's hard to go wrong with this. Add your own. ![]() Well, I saw this book a while back on Boing Boing, and anything that sounds remotely like it belongs on the Art Bell show (mysterious giant black orb, strange disappearances) is a winner in my book. Basically a town in Massachusetts gets visited by the aforementioned orb in 1935. Later, the only five witnesses to the event disappear. And the puzzle of what happened only begins when you finish the book and go, "Um...what?" You go to creator Bob Staake's website and there's enough backstory here to make the folks at Haxan Films go "Well...shit." Strange phenomena + puzzle/riddle book = we are very intrigued. It's available from Commonwealth Editions. Categorized as: Books and Headsup

Though he's most famous for his Sketchbook Diaries, where he logs his daily activities (such as trying to pick up a cat with chopsticks--my personal favorite), who knew that he was a rock star? Well, kinda. James Kochalka Superstar is sorta like what would happen if you took The Polyphonic Spree and They Might Be Giants, subtracted about sixty-three people from the total band-members you'd then have, then ran them through an industrial press. Afterwards, they'd decide to sing songs about their "dink" and a frog trying to catch airplanes with its tongue. Oh, and monkeys. Oh, and it comes with a bonus DVD as well. Jesus, I can't stop listening to this crazy shit. Send help. Please. Categorized as: Headsup and Music
