Written by: Michael Brandt, Derek Haas and Chris Morgan, based on a story by Brandt and Haas, which was in turn based on the comic book by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones My Advice: Matinee What are you when you're less than nobody? Whatever that is, it's Wesley Gibson (McAvoy). He works a cubicle job, has a girlfriend who's being bent over by his best friend anytime Wesley's out of eyeshot, is constantly browbeaten by his supervisor, and has to take anti-anxiety medication because he's just a complete and utter waste of flesh. Then one day he gets contacted by a mysterious woman named Fox (Jolie) who tells him the truth: the father that he never knew? Was one of the greatest assassins of the modern age. And said father has been recently put down by a rogue assassin who now is trying to put Wesley down. And the balance of the world rests on Wesley's shoulders: learn how to kill or learn how to be dead. The latter is frighteningly simple. The former…not so much. Categorized as: Movies and Reviews

08.13.08 by Widge @ 8:09 pm So I went to go find the "Why do you say you feel...trapped in a man's body?" bit and stumbled across the whole film. So how can I not post it? Be aware there are ads in this, but hey, it's Raising Arizona. Beats the hell out of watching a crappy quality version split up into ten pieces, eh? P.S. Where's my Criterion edition, Coens? I demand a three-disc uber mongo edition. Categorized as: Movies

08.13.08 by Widge @ 2:31 am ![]() George Furth, character actor and playwright, has died at age 75. Cause of death is unreported at the moment. The playwright portion of his career I knew about, of course, but just never connected (for some odd reason) Furth the actor (who played Van Johnson in Blazzing Saddles and Woodcock in Butch Cassidy) with Furth the playwright. Furth did three collaborations with Sondheim, the most successful of which was Company. We did a round-up of "Not Getting Married Today" previously. Thanks for everything, George. 08.10.08 by Widge @ 4:18 am io9 clues us into another Bollywood super-hero movie, to tide us over until Shah Rukh Khan does his Spider-Man bit. I have no idea from watching this trailer WTF is happening but I do know that there will be singing and swordplay and great CG. Plus Eros are the same people who brought you the amazing Devdas. So potential suck factor is extremely low. Here's the trailer. More after the break. Categorized as: Movies

I decided to try to make other people laugh when there wasn't a lot of things to laugh about." You made us laugh a helluva lot, Bernie. Thanks for everything. Categorized as: Movies
