10.20.08 by Widge @ 8:08 pm Looking at last year, we were watching a Wolf Man Double Feature, of Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory and The Werewolf of Washington. But then I stumbled across this film, They Came From Beyond Space, and learned it was based on my favorite book title of all time: The Gods Hate Kansas. 10.20.08 by Widge @ 12:01 am An informative introduction to both vampires in general and Roman Polanski's film about them, The Fearless Vampire Killers. Important notes about the Bulgarian and Italian vampires, indeed. Direct link for the feedreaders. Found via Universal Horror Sounds. And if you wanted to see a snippet of the Broadway musical version of this film, Dance of the Vampires, someone recorded the opening. But it's not embeddable. So go find it here. Last year at this time we were checking out a George C. Scott snippet twofer: The Changeling and The Exorcist III. Categorized as: Movies

10.19.08 by Widge @ 7:00 pm Tonight's pick is the utterly deranged 1965 film, Bloody Pit of Horror, in which The Crimson Executioner--who was briefly considered as a character in Alex Ross' Project Superpowers--is killed and then comes back for vengeance. Some things of note: yes, the lead is Mariska Hargitay's dad, she of Law & Order: SVU fame. Also, the soundtrack is kicking. Also, it was filmed in PSYCHOVISION. Enjoy. Categorized as: Movies

10.19.08 by Widge @ 12:01 am That's right...after we heard a radio spot for Scream Blacula Scream, Cosette reminded me that star Pam Grier was Coffy--so I figured that certainly made it all part of our jurisdiction. Watch these trailers and pray that Jefferson Twilight finds you in time. Categorized as: Movies

10.18.08 by Widge @ 7:00 pm For tonight, we go to an idea that ordinarily would sound pretty hot: a woman turning into a cat. But as seen in this film, the remake, and Catwoman with Halle Berry, sometimes what you think is hot is instead horrific. Categorized as: Movies
