12.07.08 by Widge @ 12:43 am The man who found Ray Bradbury, made "sci-fi" a popular term, served as head burrito at Famous Monsters of Filmland and also served as custodian for a tremendous collection of genre memorabilia ("the Ackermansion") has died at age 92. I got to see him once at DragonCon and it was an excellent presentation from one of the ultimate fans of the genres. We actually tried to call him the other day while recording a Weekend Justice. I hope he went knowing that our thoughts were with him. Here's a couple of choice clips. First, from the opening of That Little Monster, a pitch-perfect Frankenstein prologue parody: Categorized as: Movies

12.06.08 by Widge @ 1:34 am You get Dead Snow. Or as Ken termed it, Das Evil Dead. Because "if it's undead and bleeds, it leads," it's here now. Isn't it funny how Creepy Old Guy Sent By The Writers to Foreshadow The Bad Shit is even creepier when he's speaking German? I mean, he's not speaking any lines that haven't been riffed on a hundred times in similar films, but...man, it just sounds like The Really, Really Bad Shit when it comes across in that way. Do we have a release date stateside for this glorious mess? Thanks to Paul for being on zombie duty. Categorized as: Movies
