Prince of Darkness: In Search of Saint Goddard's
Posted on 10.29.06 by Widge @ 1:58 am
The real Saint Goddard's from Prince of Darkness

Update: The Horror Channel links in the post don't work anymore and the articles don't appear to be extant on their website. This is a damn shame because they were great articles. So I've replaced them with their corresponding links on the Web Archive. The pictures no longer work but you at least get the benefit of the words. Just FYI.

So here I am watching Prince of Darkness, the eighth stop of my whirlwind horror revue for the weekend, and I thought: wouldn't it be cool to go and visit Saint Goddard's, the church that had a vial of Satan in the basement? Cosette found that our friends at the Horror Channel were already way ahead of me.

In this article, they talk about every single place shown in the film--including Goddard's. It's now an arts center that looks pretty much the same. Check out the pic snippet there with the banners up and try to imagine the big ass hooded figure walking out from beneath them. Wicked.

There's other films they've given this extensive treatment for. Check out the full list here.

Danny Elfman and Tim Burton's Nightmare: Everybody Scream!
Posted on 10.26.06 by Widge @ 12:19 pm

What a brilliant mashup--to make a movie that's perfect for both Halloween and Christmas. Here's the opening number, "This is Halloween," because you can never have too much Elfman this time of year.

Direct link for the feedreaders.

Buy the new special edition soundtrack from Amazon here. The DVD's apparently out of print. Suck factor is high.

Rejoice! Here it is!

Bollywood Thriller: Bringing in the Noise and Funk of Forty Thousand Years
Posted on 10.19.06 by Widge @ 8:52 am

Nothing...and I mean nothing...that I watch over Halloween weekend will be able to compare to the sheer terror that was waiting for me in this Bollywood video.

That being said, I'd like somebody to do use this as the basis for an exercise video mashup. Ready, go.

Rob Zombie + Ed Wood = Excellent Double Feature
Posted on 10.06.06 by Widge @ 10:17 pm

Rob Zombie

Next Friday, it sounds like there's a treat on Turner Classic Movies. Ed Wood, one of the greatest Adverse Video directors of all time, is getting a double feature of Plan 9 From Outer Space and Bride of the Monster, both starring Bela Lugosi. The host is Rob Zombie. If you haven't seen the films, you should definitely tune in. They are a hoot and a half. I'm just fascinated to hear Zombie's take on them both. Get more info here.

And hey, Rob: nice shirt, dude.

Roz of Spaz-House, birthday girl, gave us the news.
