09.14.06 by Widge @ 5:07 am Devdas is without a doubt the most amazing Bollywood flick I've ever seen. Basically it's Bollywood with all its aspects turned up to eleven: musical numbers, lavish costumes, bigass sets, love triangle, Drama! (TM), and painfully beautiful women. Of the latter, here we have Exhibit A: Aishwarya Rai, the most beautiful woman in the world. Incidentally, the soundtrack to this flick is amazing. And I would give your right arm for just the musical score on CD--the instrumental stuff is even better than the songs. Oh, one last thing: there was a lot of buzz before Casino Royale started up that Rai would be tapped as the next Bond girl. That would have guaranteed the worldwide box office take for the next Bond film would have gone through the freaking roof. Talk about your missed opportunity. Categorized as: Movies

08.27.06 by Siege @ 4:50 am Written by: Adam Cooper, Bill Collage & Mark Perez Review: The funniest thing about this movie isn't the one-liners, or Lewis Black's scathing rants, but the fact that I saw it in a theater reeking of pubescence from the two hundred or so high schoolers in attendance, at least 70% of whom will actually believe that this is what college will be like. Damn kids. Time: 14 seconds. Categorized as: Movies and Reviews

08.18.06 by Widge @ 3:04 am ![]() Yeah, I know everybody's already reporting this, but hell. Johnny Depp's Todd and Tim Burton's in the chair. Can Depp sing? If he can, then I'm not worried about him in the least. As for Burton, as long as we've got the Big Fish and Ed Wood Burton and not the Apes or Sleepy Hollow Burton, then I think we're in good shape. My review of the kickass current revival on Broadway is here. Categorized as: Movies and Stimuli

08.05.06 by Widge @ 8:40 pm ![]() Very cool: Mark Evanier gives us the headsup that the original silent version of Harold Lloyd's Welcome Danger is going to be screened publicly for the first time on September 15th. No doubt it will find its way to DVD sometime afterwards. For the full story of why there are two versions of the film, check out Evanier's site. Categorized as: Movies and Stimuli
