10.18.09 by Widge @ 11:02 pm ![]() So I figured when you get a chance to bring Richard Matheson and a not-yet-insane Steven Spielberg to the site, I'm not sure how you can refuse. I couldn't. And yes, this was Spielberg's feature directorial debut. Dennis Weaver vs. a tanker truck. What made me think of the film? Bailey sent me the fact that a recent auction of one of the three trucks used in the making of the film took place. I couldn't quite see what it went for, but I think it would be fun to get it road-ready and drive it around, just seeing who pisses themselves in fear over it. Seriously. So here we are, Movie Night #19 for 32 Days of Halloween. Categorized as: Movies

10.18.09 by Widge @ 3:00 am So I was looking over last year's entry, where we trotted out a crapload of surviving footage of Lon Chaney Sr. And in trying to futz around and find something to talk about to start Day 19 of 32 Days of Halloween this year, I went back to Chaney Jr. and then saw that he had worked rather a lot with John Carradine, starting in 1937 where they just happened to be in This Is My Affair together...Chaney had an uncredited tiny role. But the films seemed to go increasingly downhill as their time together progressed. Let's show this here...in 1944 Chaney was with Carradine in one of the Mummy sequels (which we previously posted the trailers for here). Also, in 1944, there was House of Frankenstein followed the next year by House of Dracula: Categorized as: Movies

10.17.09 by Widge @ 7:00 pm So while looking for stuff to kick off the day, I ran across Terror in the Wax Museum and we posted that trailer. But my thought was to originally find as many "wax museum" horror movies as possible...trouble is, this one, from 1933, Mystery of the Wax Museum was posted in its entirety. That was interesting--so was the fact that this was the original and that the 1953 House of Wax is a remake...a fact I hadn't known previously. So here we go: enjoy. Direct link for the feedreaders. This breaks a bit with tradition in which last year we were watching Billy the Kid vs. Dracula and the year before that, Revolt of the Zombies. Categorized as: Movies

10.17.09 by Widge @ 3:44 am So last year at this time we were checking out Ray Milland in the trailer for The Uninvited. Seeking out more Milland, I found this 1973 trailer for the unbelievably cheeseball flick that makes the late 80s Waxwork look inspired. That's right, it's Terror in the Wax Museum, which also inspired my choice of film for tonight. Direct link for the feedreaders. Back in 2007, we were checking out the trailer for the UK's Zombie Diaries...which...I still haven't seen, actually. Categorized as: Movies

10.16.09 by Widge @ 11:21 pm Okay, so normally I don't play you a trailer of the film before I show you the actual film...but if this trailer doesn't make you get excited as hell about watching this insane flick, then I don't know you at all. If the line "We are concerned with the mutilation murders that have occurred over the past six months" and its stylistic delivery doesn't sell you...I mean, seriously. Direct link for the feedreaders. "YOU will DIE a THOUSAND DEATHS..." My God, that is genius. Plus: the brilliance of John Carradine. And now, for our feature presentation. Are you with me? I think you are... Categorized as: Movies
