John Lennon Interviewed By Tom Snyder: The Nicest Egomaniac
Posted on 07.24.06 by Widge @ 2:03 am

This 1975 interview on Tom Snyder's show is fascinating in that you get to hear from Lennon on his immigration troubles, what entertainers really get into the business for, and you get to see Tom puffing away on a cig. Nice.

Stomp While Suspended
Posted on 07.23.06 by Widge @ 2:48 am

Stomp is a damn fine show. I think I've seen it three times live while it's been out on tour, and the thing never gets old. It's because the energy is just overwhelming. If you haven't checked it out in person, you simply must.

Here's the suspended "musical beating on random things" bit from the show, taken apparently from the Stomp Out Loud DVD.

Bill Bailey's Love Ballad: There Was No Moss
Posted on 07.16.06 by Widge @ 7:43 pm

The #2 question we heard last year was "Who the hell is that guy?" He's Bill Bailey. And this is the best love ballad in the history of love ballads.

Otafuku Rex: Stop Motion Band in Motion
Posted on 07.15.06 by Widge @ 12:41 pm

Screenhead clued us in to Otafuku Rex, which is basically Gorillaz if they were created by a funky offshoot of Aardman. On the band's official site they give you audio bits to mashup and encourage video creation, which only makes sense since apparently these guys are behind Xipster.

Check out the video for "Do Me, I'm the Best" here.

RIP: Syd Barrett
Posted on 07.11.06 by Widge @ 11:20 am

He has gone into the room of musical tunes to make them work.

Rest well, Syd. See you you know where.
