A documentary about street musicians around the world looks like it's going to be amazing if it spawns something like this, in which a musician in Santa Monica lays down the main track and then buskers around the world join in and jam out on Ben E. King's "Stand By Me." Ken shared this via Twitter and it is fan-freaking-tastic. Direct link for the feedreaders. The CD/DVD is available for pre-order here for $9.99. And I can't wait to see it. Their website is here. And I've embedded the trailer below. Enjoy. Categorized as: Music

Kutiman is apparently an Israeli DJ (I say apparently because his site is being destroyed right now by traffic) who has taken a slew of YouTube videos and sampled/remixed them into a series of seven badass jam/songs that he calls "Thru You." It's fantastic and a pox upon Doc for sending this to me and blitzing my productivity for the rest of the afternoon. I think it's like Danger Mouse decided to taken on the entire goddamn Internet. Doc says, "He's taken my belief that YouTube's best function is for finding talented unknown musicians, and followed it to the logical extreme. YouTube is the best unsigned act in the world." Here's all of the songs in a single playlist for your convenience. Check them out. Let me know what you think. Direct link for the feedreaders. Categorized as: Music

Okay, so this is interesting: long having used the onstage personas of Spinal Tap and The Folksmen, the twisted trio that is Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer are doing something different: just being themselves. It makes sense: it's apparently a lot easier to setup minimal equipment and then, you know, not have to wear big, hot freaking wigs. The tour will hit thirty cities and starts April 17th. Tickets go on sale to the masses this Friday, Internet presale apparently...tomorrow. And in Atlanta, anyway, the ticket range is $35.50 - $52.50. Check their site for more info. I think it's a great way to kick off Sunday, personally. Why can't every pub have Lisa Hannigan hanging out in the back with a full band? Seriously. Categorized as: Music
