08.23.06 by Widge @ 4:06 am ![]() Guess what? A vengeful cyberangel sent over links to two more songs from the Batman musical, which we've mentioned before. And holy shit, they are terrible. I mean really, seriously terrible. Like even Andrew Lloyd Webber on a bad day is thinking, "WTF is that noise?" Categorized as: Music and Stimuli

08.20.06 by Widge @ 3:55 pm Yeah, I know--you're thinking to yourself for about the first minute and a half: "If I wanted Dead Can Dance, I'd just go pop in a CD, Widge, you time-wasting ass." Just wait. And think--he's doing all of that with giant coffee stirrers from McDonald's. Just damn. Categorized as: Music and Stimuli

08.16.06 by Widge @ 5:37 am ![]() For those that have read my novel, Mystics, you know Fishbone is near and dear to my heart. Brooklyn Vegan has posted the band's 2006 tour schedule. Apart from a date at CBGB's and a handful on the west coast, it's all Europe, it seems. So our friends across the pond: enjoy. Treat Angelo and the gang well. Categorized as: Music

07.23.06 by Widge @ 2:48 am Stomp is a damn fine show. I think I've seen it three times live while it's been out on tour, and the thing never gets old. It's because the energy is just overwhelming. If you haven't checked it out in person, you simply must. Here's the suspended "musical beating on random things" bit from the show, taken apparently from the Stomp Out Loud DVD. 07.16.06 by Widge @ 7:43 pm The #2 question we heard last year was "Who the hell is that guy?" He's Bill Bailey. And this is the best love ballad in the history of love ballads. Categorized as: Music

07.15.06 by Widge @ 12:41 pm ![]() Screenhead clued us in to Otafuku Rex, which is basically Gorillaz if they were created by a funky offshoot of Aardman. On the band's official site they give you audio bits to mashup and encourage video creation, which only makes sense since apparently these guys are behind Xipster. Check out the video for "Do Me, I'm the Best" here. Categorized as: Music
