06.26.06 by Widge @ 9:59 am  That's right, WGO is back, this time as an honest to Satan podcast from Kevin Smith's entertainment site, Quick Stop Entertainment. It used to be Movie Poop Shoot, but it was inducted into the Hellfire Club, Mastermind screwed with its head, then it went apeshit, died and came back as a new character in a different costume. I'm sure Movie Poop Shoot is in a cocoon at the bottom of the Net, waiting to be revived by Kurt Busiek. Right. The new site is run by our own Ken Plume. We're so proud of him. I remember back in the day when he'd spit off the side of the unfinished building and say to me, "Widge, one of these them there days I'm gunna own this construction company." And he made good on his threat. So anyway, WGO's back. I don't know if it's bigger or better than ever. It's longer than ever. That's all I can promise you. And yes, my beard eats puppies. What of it? Update: Within moments of this, my switchboard lit up. "What's the RSS feed? What's the RSS feed?" Oh, right. You crazy kids. Remember, last time I did this we didn't have freaking RSS feeds. Back then you actually had to go to websites and read them for yourself. Geez. Okay, fine. Here's the main RSS feed for Quick Stop, and here's the feed for WGO. You people are masochists. I respect that. Update: A lot of the Quick Stop stuff is up on iTunes, but they're working on mine. In the meantime, go to Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast > and stick "http://quickstopentertainment.com/?feed=rss2&cat=15" into it. It's ugly, but it'll work for now. Categorized as: Rants

Now that those wars are over and we've apparently declared victory (?) and since nobody has anything better or more important to take care of, we can now move onto a new priority: the War on Sex. State and federal governments promote abstinence only programs, school textbooks teach sex is bad for you, and the FBI making pornography one of the top priorities. Now there's a bill that just passed the House of Representatives that could make mainstream movies and television jump through the same bureaucratic hoops as pornographic productions. Of course, porn makes much money, so producers go to the trouble of dealing with the paperwork. But would your regular lazy Hollywood executive? Here's a link to the Senate Judiciary Committee. They're next in line to look at the bill. Why not send a note to your Senator saying you like sex and don't need the government to enact back door methods of censorship? As the Needcoffee.com Minister of Naughty Bits, I'm urging you to do so before frolicking = felony. Categorized as: Rants

04.06.05 by Widge @ 4:16 am  You know, I saw this originally on Boing Boing and I didn't want to comment. But now I can't help myself. I understand the rationale for standing in line at the Chinese in order to raise money for their charity. More power to those guys. But standing in line being more important than the movie itself? Especially when, if the last two films are any indication (not to mention the information that's been leaked online), the movie is almost guaranteed to suck so hard that not even light will escape it? Those people are sad. "We don't care if the movie sucks! We just want it to suck at the Chinese!" What the hell. Have fun in Geekworld. Console yourself with the Revenge of the Sith t-shirt you're wearing that you bought while complaining about the title the entire time you stood in line to get it. Sleep secure in the knowledge that Lucas is done with the franchise after this. Well, and the 3-D versions. And Episodes 7-9. Categorized as: Movies and Rants
