11.23.08 by Widge @ 11:28 pm In what could have been the opening to any number of sci-fi movies, horror movies, or comic book story arcs, a meteorite burned up in the skies over western Canada on Thursday, creating a bigass fireball, showing here: Categorized as: Stimuli

11.21.08 by Widge @ 5:07 am ![]() Yes, well, I hear that Ken and Dana have told their version of the Key Largo story, from where we packed up and went down to Miami for Anime SuperCon. Now, straight from the Widge's mouth is my version. Which, admittedly, since I haven't listened to their podcast yet, might be strikingly similar. They, no doubt, told you about our week's long sojourn on the shores of the lost continent of Mu, caught in the midst of the struggle between the giant squad-taurs that rule there in the present day and the humans they own to work the fields--so I won't bore you with that part of the story. I'll instead just keep to the part where we were on the boat. Let's back up for a moment. In Miami, the idea was to visit one of the Keys. And Key Largo was the closest. Not only that, but reportedly the glass bottom boat tour was amazing. I also discovered while perusing online that the Christ of the Abyss was at Key Largo. Yes, that Jesus statue that's on the cover of the God Lives Underwater album. Exactly. Categorized as: Stimuli

11.19.08 by Widge @ 12:49 pm In the sort of smart move that we could only attribute to some of the funniest men in on the planet, Monty Python has launched its own YouTube channel and will be replacing "crap quality videos" with high quality ones. All they ask in return is that you buy their stuff. Direct link for the feedreaders. I know everyone's going to be posting this, and we're jumping on that bandwagon for two reasons. One, because it's Python. And we have a history of "ripping off" Python, as the video puts it. But two, because it's smart. It's the only reaction that makes sense--and one that we've been doing for a long time. Don't be a dick, just ask people to support you--and most times they will. I have a feeling that this will work much better for the Pythoners than it does for us because they're much funnier and they have a larger audience. Granted, we have more ninjas than they do, according to our own intelligence agency. But still. Anyway, we must all come together in support of smart things that aren't dickish. 11.17.08 by Widge @ 12:24 am I post this only to point out how important literature is to people's safety. Anyone who had read their Shirley Jackson would have known to treat a piece of paper with a great black spot on it with more care. Categorized as: Stimuli
