Comments on this: 2 so far. Add your own. I used to watch Fantasy Island religiously (no pun intended), but somehow I never caught the episode in which Roddy McDowall played Satan and faced off with Ricardo Montalban's Mr. Roarke over a young woman's soul. The storyline has been snippeted down to a "minisode," showing here. Direct link for the feedreaders. Yes, I think it's cool to see Khan face down Peter Vincent. But maybe that's just me. And yes, that was Adam West as the husband. And apparently, the two of them would get a rematch the next year in a story called "The Devil and Mr. Roarke." (Roarke and Satan, mind you, not Roarke and West.) I need to go back and watch the show, because I recall it being vaguely supernatural--the place was there to make your fantasies come true, after all--but I never recall it being this extreme. Next I'm going to find out Oliver Reed guest-starred as Thor in an episode or something. Categorized as: TV

Because they missed some great stuff. There are people who only know Jay Leno as the host of The Tonight Show and never got to see the genius that was Johnny Carson, hosting alongside the #1 television sidekick of all time--and Johnny's friend--Ed McMahon. They might know McMahon as That Sweepstakes Guy. But Ed was The Man. As demonstrated here, even years later he was still The Man. Direct link for the feedreaders. Thanks for everything, Ed. Update: Mark Evanier has written a great bit about Ed here. Thanks to Ken for the headsup. Categorized as: TV

One was a shallow little action flick and the other was a fantastically written moving piece about humanity in the face of certain death which decided to blink and morph into a shallow little action flick. Now ABC has decided to take a page from the Sci-Fi Channel and present...well, this: Direct link for the feedreaders. You know how this could be salvaged? If the people they were sending up in a spaceship to stop it were werewolves. I'm just saying. I missed it when it was first announced, but Bill Corbett] shared it. It's airing starting June 21st, apparently. And somewhere Irwin Allen is...well, is he weeping, smirking or laughing his ass off? You tell me. Categorized as: TV

But I have to admit that the five commercials for pachinko (the game that happened when the Japanese cross-bred pinball and slot machines) starring Nicolas Cage seem to take things to a whole new level: a level where Salvador Dali himself would feel right at home and ask for another espresso.
