11.05.06 by Widge @ 3:43 am You Trek fiends will know more about this than I, but Win Eckert clued us into this bit: footage from the second version of the original series' pilot episode that apparently isn't available on DVD or anywhere else legit. It is on YouTube, though. S0 watch it now before it gets pulled. Categorized as: Stimuli and TV

10.22.06 by ScottC @ 11:33 pm Released by: Blue Underground. ![]() As your Minister of Naughty Bits, I wanted to bring to your attention that the Ministry will be issuing bulletins to keep the public advised of media that deals with the sexy. Because it's all about the sexy. This is all for your health, so grin and bear it. In this Bulletin, we go old-school. Al Goldstein was the king of New York smut with his "magazine," Screw, which covered the New York sexual underground. Goldstein saw the growth of cable in the 70s and wanted to expand his empire with a video version of his magazine. So began Midnight Blue, a public access cable show that for almost twenty years pushed the boundaries of good taste and sexual conformity. Blue Underground has been releasing DVDs collections of the "best" of the show. Volume 4 of this series, Freaks & Geeks, features segments of some seriously fucked up shit from a cathouse for dogs to sex cults with hermaphroditic priests/priestesses to the first public sex marathon since the days of the Roman empress, Messilina. The disc comes with "Filthy Facts" subtitles that offer informative and snarky context to the smutty segments. It brings whole new meaning to "Pop-Up Video". 10.20.06 by Widge @ 7:54 am ![]() Sloshing through the swamp of pop culture so you don't have to. We bring you ideas for how to waste your weekend. Sorry for the tardiness on this one. We're having big fun now. Of course, special thanks go out to Clutch for letting me use their absolutely badass song, "Promoter (of earthbound causes)" as my theme music for this. Buy Blast Tyrant, which is where you can find "Promoter". Buy their latest album, Pitchforks and Lost Needles. Send them love and coin. Thanks also to Katy Bowser for letting us feature her album and play a track. Find her at her website here or on MySpace here. And thanks to James Underberg for putting his song "The Battle" out on PodSafe Audio so we could use it for the opening bit. BTW, you iTunes subscriber types can nab this feed here. Or if you want to do something else with it, the feed feed is here. Categorized as: Books and Comics and DVD and Music and Podcasts and Recommendations and TV

10.06.06 by Widge @ 10:17 pm ![]() Next Friday, it sounds like there's a treat on Turner Classic Movies. Ed Wood, one of the greatest Adverse Video directors of all time, is getting a double feature of Plan 9 From Outer Space and Bride of the Monster, both starring Bela Lugosi. The host is Rob Zombie. If you haven't seen the films, you should definitely tune in. They are a hoot and a half. I'm just fascinated to hear Zombie's take on them both. Get more info here. And hey, Rob: nice shirt, dude. Roz of Spaz-House, birthday girl, gave us the news. Categorized as: Headsup and Movies and TV

09.15.06 by HTQ4 @ 5:45 am Film: Directed by M. Clay Adams Released by: A&E/The History Channel. My Advice: War buffs should own. Seven years after the end of World War II, someone at NBC thought it would be a good idea to get some of the footage that was taken during the war that had never been seen by the American public, edit it for television, and present it. This was unprecedented. Clocking in at twenty-six Categorized as: Reviews and TV
