Have you been waiting for a new version of the Robin Hood story, and mayhap Prince of Thieves and Costner left a bad taste in your mouth? Short and O'Farrell state from their introduction that they mean to give the tale their own spin, and they most certainly do. And when the Lionheart's first line of dialogue is "FUCK!" then you know you're in for a spin, all right. Adding new characters and giving our man Hood a bit more of an edge than we've seen equals for an interesting read. And the climax certainly isn't what one might expect. Great beginning to a new series of Sherwood Tales, and finally one that won't put you to sleep.
