Negation War #1 from CrossGen. Tony Bedard (Writer); Paul Pelletier (Artist); Dave Meikis (Inker); Laura Martin (Colorist); Dave Lanphear (Letterer). The CrossGen Universe, at least in the comics, is looking to have its ass kicked by Charon and his seemingly endless Negation forces. They've crossed over from their universe and are started to tear into the regular CGU. However, his arch-nemesis Appolyon has hooked up with the folks from the Negation book proper and really wants to piddle in the old boy's Post-Toasties. Bedard is one of our favorite writers, so good that he even gives us hope for Exiles--and Pelletier's work is crisp and clean as always. And this book is just as harsh as you would expect to be, with a new Sigil world getting his balls crisped by Charon and company. But as interesting as this is, the fact that it's a year early, taking place over only four issues, and the company might not even survive long enough to finish the mini-opus makes us wonder if this isn't just Unity 2004. We're not holding our collective breath.
