My Verdict: Twisted.

His name is Kirk Madge. He's a millionaire. He's an adventurer with a team of highly trained specialists to back him up. He has a jet pack and he knows how to use it. He may or may not have been a professional baseball player at some point during his mysterious past. And by the way, he's a gorilla. When he and his team of crack crackpots are approached by another millionaire seeking the bizarre Suspense Jacket, Madge might get a shot at learning something about his past--but is he prepared for the truth...and a bunch of guys with swords dressed up like hot dogs?

This is a twisted, twisted little book. Imagine Grant Morrison and Bob Burden going on a bender and then banging out a Flaming Carrot/Doom Patrol crossover over a weekend, realizing they could never get such a thing published, and then changing 95% of it to make it into something completely new. You would have nothing like this book when you were done, and this is probably a good thing. What you would have instead is attack bicycles, simians in drag, a recipe for Donald Sutherland, and lots of television references.

This is a lot of fun, though, with a definite Burden feel to everything. Very easy to get into, very easy to gutlaugh at. Those wanting stories that make sense should stay away, but if you weren't warned off by the title, there's no hope for you anyway. Regardless, I am definitely pleased that this fell into my lap and even more pleased a new Ape limited series is coming down the pike this fall. Suck factor is definitely low.
