My Verdict: Promising.

A quartet of stories kicks off this series: One shots of Tom Strong, Tesla Strong, Young Tom Strong...and the first part of a new character, Jonni Future. The elder Strong is on the trail of Nazi archaeologists in the Arctic. His daughter is on the trail of a good party. His younger self is on the trail of a glowing apparition. And Jonni Future is on the trail of her uncle's history and her inheritance...which isn't exactly what she had in mind.

Tomorrow Stories, the other ABC anthology series, has been at best moderately amusing. Jack B. Quick is a winner, and The First American is worth a few laughs. Greyshirt is hit or miss, but the rest I could do without. This new series, however, shows a bit of promise. First of all, the stories are all solid. The two Tom Strong stories are firmly rooted in the classic adventure stories as always, but with the tasty Alan Moore brand twist. But that's not all the book has to offer.

The Tesla Strong short is quite amusing and drawn very capably by Hernandez. The thing that I liked best, I must admit, was the Jonni Future segment. It's got that John Carter of Mars kick going, but on a good solid dose of crack. And, of course, I'm a sucker for Art Adams, especially when he's drawing his ass off like he is here.

Regardless, this is a good read--and this coming from somebody who dislikes, as a rule, continuing story anthology series. If you've got the cash to spare, pick it up.
