My Advice: Buy it if you're a Corrs fan.

The Corrs are one of today’s hottest Irish folk rock bands, blending traditional melodies and string instruments with pop-worthy lyrics and melodies. Now, this DVD presenting the end of their 2000 European tour allows viewers to see the band in action.

Some of the twenty-five songs included in this disc are their hits “Forgiven, Not Forgotten,” “Dreams,” and “Radio,” as well as the more traditional tunes “Old Town” and “Toss the Feathers.” The last song is a bonus track of “Happy X-Mas (War is Over),” a song that many Irish music fans associate with U2, but the Corrs make it their own.

The audio quality is about as good as you would want in a concert disc, where of course the sound is all-important. There are a few places where the mix of instruments is not the same as it is on CDs of these songs, or where the vocals do not seem quite balanced with the music, but this often happens in concerts where there are fewer controls and less ability to digitally “fix” any problems, as one could do in a studio.

The behind-the-scenes featurette is rather nice, especially if you are already a fan. Viewers get to see a bit about what goes into making a concert like this a success, as well as a bit about the Corrs themselves. It would have been nice to have had more meaty one-on-one time with the girls, answering questions from fans. The multiple angles won’t interest most music fans, but those Corrs fans who like how these pretty sisters look as much as how they sound will love this touch, along with their costumes. In a nice touch for a music disc, the English lyrics are provided for all of the songs, though having some sample sheet music (especially for the violin) would have been nice for the budding musicians among their fans.

If you are already a fan of the Corrs, you will want to add this disc to your collection. If you are not already in love with their blend of violin and pop, then check this one out anyway and see if you won’t want to start buying their music. Fans of such bands as U2 will like them, and perhaps even those of you who like such alternative acts as Rasputina or the Changelings might want to give the Corrs a listen.
