Welcome to the Needcoffee.com DVD Reviews portion of our Reviews Central Lab. Why DVDs? Well, because most of the time we're too caffeinated and paranoid to leave the house and see stuff in cinemas. So, same as the movies...

Our rating system works in two ways.  First, we give you a rating from five coffee cups being the best () to a nasty stain being the worst (). We give a rating for the film and then one for the DVD itself. Now, I'll warn you: the Widgeman is not one of these videophiles who kills for a good 5.1 HDTV setup. I have a hand-me-down TV, I could care less about surround sound, but I will give it to you straight. Is it worth your time? That I will answer for you.

Also, we've listed whether or not the disc has an anamorphic transfer, since that seems to be important to some. For those that don't know what the heck I'm talking about, and for those of you who need more information about all this whacked out home theater tech we have these days, we recommend Michael's Home Theater site for an explanation.

Then we give advice on whether or not to buy the thing from Own It to Avoid It. Pretty self-explanatory there.

To all readers, please note: while we try to provide links for equivalent products, bear in mind that some DVDs have differing features depending on what region of DVD you're buying. So there is a chance that a feature we discuss in a Region 1 review may not be available on another Region's release. If that's the case, please feel free to bitch at the studios for being odd--and for not sending us both flavors to review.

Also bear in mind that if you buy a specific region's DVDs, you've got to have the appropriate DVD player and TV in order to play the discs. So don't come whining to us if you don't do your homework or click on the wrong link or something equally debilitating.
