Each Thursday (or Friday, since some weeks we seem to be running behind on everything), Needcoffee.com's staff of whackos will wrack our brains to give you interesting and new things to do over the weekend. Books, movies, whatever. We'll throw them out, you do with them what you will. And hey...if you have something you want to recommend--whatever it is--drop us a line.
Incidentally, we've provided links where we can for you to buy the stuff or find out more if you're interested, courtesy of those Amazon types. Hey, come on, we can't be totally selfless in this, can we?

Book of the Week: Destination Unknown by Agatha Christie. Not her average whodunit. No detectives creeping about interviewing witnesses. It’s the adventurous story of a woman in despair who, through a strange set of circumstances, tries to help authorities expose a dangerous international plot. In order to do so, she has to impersonate a missing man’s wife, traveling on a journey which may end in her death Nostalgically romantic, exciting, and well-written. It’s one of our favorites.
Graphic Novel of the Week: The Path: Crisis of Faith by Ron Marz & Bart Sears with Walt Simonson. Sweet mother of damn.
There's not a book among the CrossGen line that we'd particular think of us as weak. But Sears' work on this book is
definitely making our watecraft buoyant, if you take our meaning. Just incredible stuff. When you get a monk who's a
sigil-bearer pissed off at the Gods--and he's got one of Their weapons, things are going to get a little rough. Add to that
a sigil that gives him the ability to Command others and a Viking samurai sidekick--oh yeah. Yeah, we're there.
Comic Book of the Week: Stormwatch: Team Achilles #4 by Micah Ian Wright & Whilce Portacio.
We were afraid of this book initially. I mean, Ellis killed this book to spawn The Authority. And mostly, we like
stuff that's dead to stay dead. We're funny like that. But with each issue, it's growing on us. It's a Stormwatch sans
spandex, that are committed to killing anybody in spandex that gets in their way. They are essentially mehum
badasses--and this new story arc is taking them up against The Authority. Can't wait.
DVD of the Week: The Alec Guinness Collection. Granted, there's not much in the way of extras on this thing--but
if you know anything about the films included--Ladykillers, Man in the White Suit, The Lavender Hill
Mob, Kind Hearts and Coronets, and The Captain's Paradise. It's just great to finally have them on DVD.
But still, what is there--such as the over the top trailers--are a little cherry on top of some great, hilarious films. To
hell with Obi-Wan, you need these.
CD of the Week:
This Film's Crap, Let's Slash the Seats by David Holmes. I admit it. I originally bought this because the
title was so damn cool. But let's face it, there are some great beats on here. And this is before I had been exposed to
stuff like his kickass film work with Soderbergh. Make sure when you snag this you don't forget about the bonus disc, filled
with remixes.
Beverage of the Week: Strongbow Not a big fan of beer, but I tried this stuff on tap recently and it was everything yummy that beer is not. Sweet with a hint of apples, it’s a lovely british cider that will happily accompany a meal of fish and chips or stand on its own.
