Air Force One (1997)

Directed by Wolfgang Petersen
Written by Andrew W. Marlowe
Starring Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Glenn Close, William H. Macy, Dean Stockwell

My Advice: Matinee.

An enjoyable action flick built around the casting.  "Harrison Ford is the President of the United States" is the tagline.  And who can blame them?  Ford is the man, and he delivers a great performance despite sometime flag-waving Velveeta-esque dialogue, Die Hard comparisons, and the fact that one of the coolest sequences in the film is given away in the trailer.  Gary Oldman--what more should I say?  He's a god.  He gives you a villain that you can't condone, but you can at least understand his motives.  Close delivers a solid supporting role as the veep.  Congrats for pulling some new rabbits out of the hat with this formula.  Big screen necessary for those neato explosions.
