32 Days of Halloween IX, Day 2: Alice Cooper & Faust!

Faust (1926)

Welcome to Day 2. For today’s selections, I was going to go with Alice Cooper‘s 1978 appearance on The Muppet Show. Specifically his performance (with his own band of Muppets, The Vile Bunch) of “Welcome to My Nightmare.” However, Mr. Cooper has provided a commentary of sorts on his appearance, so we have to go with that. Be warned, he doesn’t say a whole lot, but what he does say is pretty much gold.

Honestly, You Should Live Every Day Like It’s National Coffee Day.

Maxwell House: Out of Coffee

Yes, it’s National Coffee Day. But we never like the whole “national” moniker anyway, especially when we’re dealing with something as universally loved as coffee. So we hereby invite all of our many international readers to celebrate the day with us.

First Things First: if you want a run-down of where to get free coffee, here’s your agenda. Once you have your free coffee (which is one of my favorite types of coffee, incidentally), come back here to disturb yourself.

Threadless: Villains, Nightmares, Muppets & Discounts

Drink Me Coffee Mug by Threadless

It’s been a while since we’ve tackled any sort of Threadless/t-shirt update, so let’s dive in by saying first that Threadless has expanded their product line into dish towels and coffee mugs. Considering the amount of coffee-related shirts they have, it’s sort of amazing they only have the one coffee-related coffee mug thus far (“Drink Me Coffee” by Phil Jones–pictured). But their entire home and kitchen section can be found here.

32 Days of Halloween VI, Day 2: Of Zero, Fear & Muppets

Zero Mostel from The Muppet Show

For Day 2 of 32 Days of Halloween, we generally go with a bit of Poe. And when we originally found a video that purported to be the brilliant Zero Mostel reading Poe? We were hooked! But very quickly we realized it’s not Poe at all–but instead a Jerry Juhl original that he’s reciting. But that’s so fantastic we couldn’t hold back from throwing it at you.

Your Weekend Justice #145: Will Somebody Save Somebody?

It’s Weekend Justice: the Internet’s #1 audio trainwreck. It’s the podcast that can go to a Dark Place at the drop of a hat. And not every listener will make it back alive. This is both warning…and promise. This podcast was engineered–some might say over-engineered–by experts to escort you from the work week in the most chaotic manner possible. Please note: this podcast is profane, definitely oversexed and definitely overwrought. It is wrong and unsafe. You have been warned.

Martha Stewart Coming Home Poncho

Please note–an extra warning for this episode, in which terrible, sick jokes are made about children and taxidermy. In light of this, I would like to issue the following apology in advance:

In my rush to make a joke, I incorrectly identified Boris Karloff’s last film as 1968’s Targets, when as you, of course, well know–it was instead 1971’s The Incredible Invasion, released after his death. My apologies for any confusion or distress this slip-up may cause.

Agenda:

  • Everyone vs. Beck
  • And then…Beckham
  • Stealth hooligans
  • What the hell is this thing, anyway?
  • Ass crack o’clock
  • Something about Jill and her nipple
  • The Matrix spoilers
  • Being a bitch for D&D

13 Days of Xmas 2011 Begins Here… With Muppets

    Muppets Christmas

I know, I know, it’s traumatic for everybody. But as the intro says, “Buck little camper.” We’re here with our Fifth Year of 13 Days of Xmas to help you slide into the mayhem of the yuletide season. Whether you’re waiting for your vacation to begin or waiting for it to end so you can get away from your family…or perhaps you just need to sneak away and get a laugh while trying to make sense of the nonsensical wish lists that you’ve had thrust upon you…we’re here.

As is tradition with 13 Days, we open with Muppets. First up, we have dancer Rudolf Nureyev appearing with Miss Piggy in a Muppet Show production of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” If not full-on Christmas, it’s certainly seasonal enough.

And then, we have the Muppets Christmas Carol Blooper Reel. Ignore the Spanish subtitles. Unless you speak Spanish. In that case, enjoy the Spanish subtitles.
