Your Weekend Justice #150: Things Not to Marinate Your Keyboard With

It’s Weekend Justice: the Internet’s #1 audio trainwreck. It’s the podcast that can withstand anything: scorn, jokes about babies and taxidermy, sex, and even a beer in the wrong place. This podcast was engineered–some might say over-engineered–by experts to escort you from the work week in the most chaotic manner possible. Please note: this podcast is profane, definitely oversexed and definitely overwrought. It is wrong and unsafe. You have been warned.

Stuff You Need to Know: News About Spiders, Dragons and Monsters

    Spidey Project

If you watch movie news sites like a hawk, then this feature isn’t for you. If, however, you don’t give a rodent’s posterior about reading rewritten press releases and entire blog posts rehashed from Variety and Hollywood Reporter–in other words, you have a life–then this will give you everything you need to know in a single post. Blam. Enjoy.

  • Another Spider-Man musical? Yes, but this one actually sounds interesting: Justin Moran (POPE! The Musical) has decided to create, rehearse and perform a full-on Spider-Man musical for exactly $65 million dollars less than the budget of the Julie Taymor monster. Yes, that would be for zero dollars. He’s also presenting the completed project on March 14th, a day before the official opening of Turn Off the Dark (assuming that doesn’t get moved again). For more info on his quest, check out the site here.
  • Avatar 2 is to be set underwater, so says Michelle Rodriguez. What’s weird about the article is it says it’s unsure if she’ll be cast–but we’ll say no more on the subject for spoiler reasons. (I know, everyone has seen the film but everyone still is missing some people–I know some of them.) That new film hits in 2014. Source.

Stuff: Jesse Custer, Brought to You By Sam Mendes

    Jesse Custer's lighter from Preacher

Some sites do nothing but regurgitate the contents of press releases and the main Hollywood press outlets at you all day long. We just do it once a day, maybe. If there’s enough stuff of interest. And we do it in one fell swoop so you can get on with your lives. Who loves ya, baby?

  • Sweet creeping Jesus. Preacher lives. Preacher lives fucking big time. John August (who wrote what is probably my favorite Tim Burton film, Big Fish) is going to scribe it. And Sam Mendes (Road to Perdition) will direct–this after a bit of will he or won’t he–and apparently he will. Although I am afraid since the synopsis Variety gives is it “centers on the preacher of a Texas town who is struggling to get by and is driven only by his strong moral sense. When the city is decimated by an otherworldly force, he embarks on a journey across the country to take on the evil.” If by “take on the evil” they mean “seek out God to find out why he’s abandoned his post,” then I’m good with that. But you know that won’t fly. Not in a feature film. August is apparently also scribing Dark Shadows at Warner Brothers, which I could have sworn I mentioned before.
  • Hell yes. Dead Snow got picked up stateside by IFC while at Sundance. Also, if you’re in Germany, Benelux, the UK and Canada, you’re in luck: it got sold there too. Should be out this year in the U.S. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go here. Source.

Stuff: Beatles to Tempt Me Into Finally Buying a Gaming System

    The Beatles

Because some people just want to read a single post with all their pop culture snippets in it, instead of following an entire website about it. Essentially: this is pop culture news for people with lives. Enjoy.

  • The Beatles‘ Apple Corps have signed a deal with MTV and Harmonix to bring about some form of Rock Band game that will feature the Beatles’ music. This will hit next year and comes with the full blessing of Paul, Ringo, along with Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. Giles Martin, who co-produced Love–the Beatles/Cirque du Soleil pairing–is going to be music producer on this. The press release I read doesn’t have the official title of the game, although they’d be nuts not to call it Rock Band: The Beatles Edition or something. I will give a dollar to the first team who can do “Revolution 9” on the hardest level and give me photographic evidence of that fact.
