Shout Factory has released two more Johnny Cash Christmas specials this year. And Johnny Cash was simply a ridiculously badass musician. Along for the ride in 1978 are Steve Martin, Kris Kristofferson, and Rita Coolidge. In 1979 you've got Andy Kaufman and Anne Murray. And of course June Carter Cash in both. Amazon's deal today? 62% off The X-Files: Complete Collector's Edition, which is the whole series plus the first movie. It's normally about $330, right now it's $123.99 or until they run out. You can snag yours here.

Fred Thompson returns to television in a guest shot on Life on Mars U.S. as the chief of detectives. Look on the bright side, Fred: it probably pays better than the job you were trying for earlier. Source: EW.

Dark Knight is getting re-released on January 23rd. This to push it past the $1B mark. If you didn't catch it on the big screen, in the name of Adam West himself, I demand you fix this situation at that time. Source: Variety.

Give Disney credit: sometimes they ain't dumb. Where a slew of Broadway shows are shuttering starting January 4th, Disney has introduced the "Kids Go Free!" deal. For their shows The Lion King, Mary Poppins and Little Mermaid--you get a free ticket for a child for every adult ticket purchased for performances between January 6th and March 13th. The deal is good through December 12th assuming they don't run out. Three days of sales = $1M. Source: Variety.

RIP: Paul Benedict

Paul Benedict, who was perhaps best known for playing Harry Bentley, the English neighbor on The Jeffersons, died this past Monday. He was 70.

True he was great on The Jeffersons, but being unable to really find any footage online of him--I went back to another role for which he will be fondly remembered: The Mad Painter.

Paul and Storm Channel Randy Newman

So our twisted friends Paul and Storm have decided to ring in the Xmas bells with a little Randy. Yes, they're taking their "What If..." cycle of songs to their logical and mad conclusion, in which various and sundry movies get a little musical help from Mr. Newman. It's "25 Days of Newman." So far they're just on Day 5, and they've managed to take on Cloverfield, The Godfather...and some movie with Spartans in it, showing above. (Or for finicky feedreaders, here's all the tracks.)

Stay tuned to their website, or just cut to the chase and subscribe to their RSS feed or via iTunes. Just remember: you've got a friend in them.
