Laurel and Hardy in 1956: Final Footage Ever?

Laurel and Hardy: Final Footage

Mark Evanier pointed this out–so go read his site to see the full skinnee on this. But speaking of skinnee–yes, that’s Oliver Hardy after losing a hundred pounds, per his doctor’s orders. This is post-stroke for Stan Laurel, but pre-stroke for Hardy, and they were apparently looking at doing some work again before Hardy’s health simply went past the point of no return. As Evanier and the YouTube poster point out, you could be looking at the last time they ever appeared on film together.

This is very sad, in a way. But in another way–just look at them goofing about: even after everything that had happened to them, they still had it. So that’s something.
