Ventures Bros Season 6 Blu-Ray Adventure Time Season 6 Blu-Ray

Out today on Blu-ray (with DVD thrown in for good measure) is Season Six of The Venture Bros., where we see the newly-rich Dr. Venture and sons situated in their swanky new compound in New York City, a prime location for more (mis)adventures. This season started off with the special All This and Gargantua 2, which features pretty much every character we’ve ever seen on the show as circumstances clash them together against the backdrop of the epic space station Gargantua 2. If you haven’t seen this season yet, do make sure to start with the special as it does affect the rest of the season (and the Ventureverse in general), with important plot points including (seemingly) killing off several characters. It is included among the special features on the DVD and Blu-ray sets along with very amusing creator commentaries for each episode plus some deleted scenes (you can see editors’ logic behind cutting them, but they’re still an entertaining bonus nonetheless.)

In addition, whether you love Adventure Time because of its critical acclaim (BAFTA, Emmy, Peabody awards and more), because it’s something you can enjoy with your kids, or just because you like saying “The Land of Ooo,” you were probably among the 2.5 million people watching last season and following the exploits of Finn, Jake, and all the rest.

Could This Be… The Anti-Astrobase?

Imminent Utopia by Kris Kuksi

After finding this monstrous wonderment on Ectoplasmosis, I was struck by a thought: it looks like a wild and evil doppleganger of the Astrobase from our friends at Astrobase Go!, shown below:

The Astrobase of Astrobase Go!

It only makes sense: the Hall of Justice’s opposite was the Hall of Doom. New Genesis had Apokolips. It’s actually a work by Kris Kuksi, “Imminent Utopia.” But still. What would the Crime Syndicate versions of Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick be like? The mind boggles at the thought…

Crystal Skull Best Buy exclusive
  • The new hip trendy thing these days is to have DVD releases with different exclusive bits depending on which store you buy it from. For the most part, they’re shruggable. But I must admit that the Best Buy offering for Indiana Jones IV is kinda snazzy if you like the film. It is a “Gift Set with replica crystal skull from Sideshow Collectibles and a $25 gift card to Sideshowcollectibles.com.” That’s all well and good, but can I drink vodka out of it? You can order your non-snazzy DVD release here or your Blu-Ray-snazzy DVD release here.
  • There’s a big article here about the the Dreamworks/Paramount divorce. Honestly, you don’t need to know much of it. Tintin is the only project that had any activity and is now in danger of not happening, but that’s not news. The news I take away from this–and thus share with you–is the word that these are in the works: first, a Lemony Snicket 2, which stays at Paramount. I know, apparently it made money–who knew? Steven Spielberg is producing a remake of When Worlds Collide, which stays as a co-production between the two companies (i.e. joint visitation rights) like Transformers 2 is. Spielberg is directing Lincoln with Liam Neeson in the lead, this from a screenplay by Tony Kushner (Angels in America). Right now that last bit is supposed to start production in the spring.

    Venture Bros. Returns

    Go Team Venture

Tomorrow’s the premiere of the new season. Are you ready? I don’t think there’s any way we can possibly prepare for what those maniacs have in store. They’ve already unleashed their t-shirt mayhem upon the world (full disclosure in a voice from that old Shake n Bake commercial: “And IIIIII helped”). And now the third season is here to take our lunch money and mock us in front of our parents. May the Grand Galactic Inquisitor have mercy upon us all.

    Face Your Fears

Found yourself depressed because you didn’t get to see the Venture Bros. Season 3 teaser trailer that Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick detonated in the middle of New York Comic-Con? Pining because you weren’t part of the masses that were so unanticipated that they broke the Comic-Con schedule like a twig? Jonesing because you didn’t get the chance to be impaled with a Dum-Dum thrown by the deadly hands of Ken Plume?

Your prayers and burnt offerings have been answered. Quick Stop Entertainment has posted the teaser. You will not be disappointed.

Update: It’s now embeddable. God bless those pagans.
