Dark Roasted Blend tells us that Alexander Kazantsev was one of the first Soviet sci-fi authors. They’ve posted a number of the black and white illustrations from his books and they’re excellent. They show that the staples of classic sci-fi illustrations–robots, guys in space suits and eggheads smoking pipes–are universal.
