#TrackoftheDay: “Frankenstein Twist”

The Crystals
USA (1962)

The Crystals

Yes, you might be surprised to see the same vocal group who brought you “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “And Then He Kissed Me” on a #TrackoftheDay for 32 Days of Halloween. I was originally looking at it to see if it had been created in response to the success of “Monster Mash,” but that song and the Crystals album both came out in August 1962. So maybe it was just something in the air. Or maybe we have the 60s music version of 28 Days Later/Walking Dead. Though it sounds like it owes a lot to Ray Charles’ “What I Say,” honestly.
