The Corpse! (1971)

32 Days of Halloween XIII
Movie Night #7

Over here, we best know Michael Gough as Alfred in the Tim Burton Batman films. However, across the pond, he was known for Hammer horror. A non-Hammer horror outing was The Corpse, shot in 1969 but not released until 1971. Again, over here it was known as Crucible of Horror. I’m not sure why. Perhaps they thought American audiences would rather have a word they weren’t sure what it meant like “crucible” than a word about death like “corpse.” Who can say?

Regardless, when a woman and her daughter decide that they’ve had quite enough of their malevolent patriarch, they decide to be done with him. However, it’s never quite that simple–especially if said patriarch has other ideas. Enjoy.
