Our buddies at Viper Comics have got some previews up that warrant your attention.
Otis Frampton’s great fantasy tale for kids, Oddly Normal, and Nicc Balce’s whacked out manga/video game-inspired Random Encounter, have their third issues which have hit the stands this week.
Oddly Normal #3 is where Oddly’s troubles continue as she faces a racing challenge from another witch and must enlist the aid of her newfound friends to aid her in becoming airborne. And somehow I don’t think that means jumping outo of airplanes with machine guns. DIAMOND PREVIEWS ORDER #: MAR05 3234
In Random Encounter #3, Migo begins to learn about the monster phenomenon and the legend of the Tree of Nede a faint memory begins to surface. He rushes back to the Kwik Mart to look for something his father left him . As he arrives, he finds a big monster trying to demolish the Kwik Mart. The miniboss battle begins. FULL PRESS RELEASE FROM VIPER
A Writer on ABC’s HIT TV SHOW LOST Creates The Middleman
In July Viper Comics will release the much anticipated comic book, The Middleman which is created by Javier Grillo-Marxuach a writer and supervising producer for ABC’s Hit TV Show LOST. “When Javier approached us with the project, and after looking it over we just knew we had to publish it. The series is AWESOME!â€, states Viper Comics President Jessie Garza.
The Middleman, a 4 issue mini-series, is written by Javier Grillo-Marxuach, and wonderously illustrated by Les McClaine (Amaze Ink/SLG’s Highway 13, Eisner Award Nominee 2005 and Russ Manning Award Nominee 2002). Reality is a sham! Our way of life is constantly under attack by monsters, aliens and talking primates. The reason we – the normal world – are no congniant of the struggle? The Middleman. Working in absurd secrecy, the Middleman stares down threats from the extra- infra- and juxta-terrestial with a big gun and a have-a-nice-day grin. The Middleman: he fights evil so you don’t have to.
Middleman creator and author brings an impressive resume to comics. Javier Grillo-Marxuach is currently a writer and Supervising Producer on the hit ABC Network series Lost. He has written and produced episodes of Boomtown, The Pretender, Jake 2.0, The chronicle, Charmed, Three and seaQuest. Grillo-Marxuach has also sold and produced several network pilots, written and directed an award-winning short film, created a number of works for the stage and contributed freelance scripts and stories to The Dead Zone, Dark Skies, Strange Frequency and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
