Wow. This is hard one to talk about since after the third episode of filming this season, we lost John Ritter. Afterwards, the show decided to continue and work Ritter’s death into the show, which is actually less ghoulish than it sounds on first hearing. I think they were genuinely trying to work through the loss just like the characters were, and I’ve written about the comedy in tragedy before as well, so I think Ritter would have agreed with their approach.
