  • Looks like Shane Smith and the maniacs at Vice are getting their own news magazine program on HBO. Looks like we may be getting expanded versions of stuff they’ve done previously, like for their online Vice Guide to Everything and the book/DVD they put out a few years back, The Vice Guide to Travel. That contained bits like the one after the jump, which is why you want to be watching this show when it hits in April. Source.

  • Argo will be hitting Blu-Ray from Warner Brothers on February 19th. It will include an Affleck director commentary. Pre-order link is here.
  • The excellent Criterion version of The Blob hits Blu-Ray on March 12th. You can pre-order that here. And all Criterion stuff can be found at Amazon here.
  • Dead Man Down is going to have Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Terrence Howard and Dominic Cooper and involve revenge, death and guns. It’s from the director of the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and looks to have enough splode to get my attention.
  • Disney has Monsters Inc. hitting 3D Blu-Ray in a five-disc set on February 19th. Pre-order link is here. Wreck-It Ralph is hitting March 5th in a four-disc 3D Blu-Ray setup. You can pre-order that here. And lastly, the 25th Anniversary Who Framed Roger Rabbit? hits on March 12th. Pre-order link for that. Let’s face it, we’re all going to want that.
  • The third season of Downton Abbey is hitting from PBS on January 29th. You addicts can pre-order the DVD or Blu-Ray from Amazon.
  • Okay, here’s the red band trailer for the Evil Dead remake. I just have two things to say on the subject. First, I don’t get it. Second, that is not the way to scrape your tongue.
  • In a desperate attempt to get me to give a shit about their Hannibal series, NBC realized that Mads Mikkelsen, while an interesting choice to play Lecter, wasn’t enough. So apparently they’ve thrown Gillian Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Eddie Izzard and Raul Esparza into the mix. Jesus. It might hit as early as the end of this season. Source.
  • Oh, Jim Carrey. As if The Incredible Burt Wonderstone didn’t look interesting enough, but then you make me blow milk out my nose with your bits in this trailer. And I wasn’t even drinking milk at the time.
  • Who’s not directing the new Star Wars? Well, sadly, not Brad Bird, as I’ve lamented before. But Guillermo Del Toro apparently was asked and passed. I don’t know…I think Doug Jones would have made an awesome Sith. Shame. Source.
  • FYI, Threadless has a sizable clearance sale going on with lots of tees going for just $7.95. Find the catalog of choices here.
