32 Days of Halloween X, Day 6: The Amazing Transparent Man!

Amazing Transparent Man

Day 6 of 32 Days of Halloween is upon us. Soon, we shall confront The Amazing Transparent Man.  But before then…it’s time for a Peter Lorre twofer.

First up, a bit from the Disneyland TV show where Walt Disney introduces Kirk Douglas to introduce Peter Lorre to talk about working with a giant squid.  That’s of course from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea…and this is apparently a bonus bit from the DVD entitled “Monsters of the Deep.”  This is not only gold because you get to see the subtle humor that Lorre can bring to the table, but you also see the now-centenarian Douglas back when he was just a lad.

Then we head over to What’s My Line for a bit showcasing how one has to get around having an extremely recognizable voice.

And now… 1960 and The Amazing Transparent Man.  What happens when you combine an ex-military lunatic, a scientist and an escaped prisoner? If you guessed a plan to create an invisible army, then well done you.  The film stars Marguerite Chapman (The Seven Year Itch), Douglas Kennedy (The Alligator People), and Ivan Triesault (Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959)). For when your attention span has a low budget so you want your sci-fi to be as well.  Enjoy!
