I don’t follow soft drinks closely these days. Mostly because there seems to be some new color/flavor variation arriving roughly every sixteen minutes. And most of them…aren’t that great, honestly. But seeing as how this was a Halloween limited edition flavor thing (the fourth they’ve put out and the second to have a mystery flavor), it seemed to be in keeping with the season to give it a shot and solve the mystery. Granted, seeking information on the previous mystery flavor, I learned it was candy corn…this might have given me pause before picking this one up.
Based on info from PepsiCo, this has basically the same caffeine content as regular Mountain Dew (90mg in this 20oz bottle), so that’s nothing special. The special-ness is the taste, and whether or not you can guess what it is.
I’m going to save you some time and money: the taste is basically regular Mountain Dew, citrusy and sweet, with an aftertaste that’s almost exactly like your parents’ disappointment in your life choices.
So if that sounds like your kind of thing then…well, first of all, seek help. And second, enjoy. If that’s what you call it.
