Re: The Spirit, I was a huge fan of the Warren Spirit magazine. It enabled me to appreciate Wil Eisners genius and raised my expectations of comics. He always had a great way of presenting the femme fatale. I believe that the equally talented Frank Miller is showing his respects to this. Bottom line- they are obviously using sex to sell this flick, if that’s what it takes to bring the Spirit to the masses, I’ll take it!
Agreed…and I think the film might be good, because I enjoyed the hell out of SIN CITY. We just need a killer 300-level trailer now and I’ll feel a lot better.
I’m sorry to say I’m not one of the comic generation. There’s too damn many of them. So while I like Frank Miller’s style, (anyone else think Sin City was Dick Tracy for grown-ups? Just me?) I don’t know enough about Spirit to cast judgment. I do know this won’t be a movie to watch with the family, though. How many love interests does one protagonist need?
Oh, and Burn After Reading is now my second most anticipated upcoming film. Sorry, Dark Knight wins.
Blank Mage- you cannot go wrong with Dark Night or a new Coen Bros movie. If you were to pursue ANYTHING by Spirit creator Will Eisner, you will be pleasantly impressed- I have NO doubt!
Wes/Mage: Bringing pop culture nerds together–that’s what Needcoffee’s all about. Well, that and coffee. And, um…and free shit. Well, money too. And you can see why we’re not making any, because I listed that fourth. God help us all.
