Music Monday: Cash, Efterklang and Evelyns

Johnny Cash: Ain't No Grave
Efterklang: Magic Chairs

Rob Levy returns with more picks for your Music Monday shenanigans. As always, if you like what you hear and want to purchase–if you do it through us, we get kickbacks. And that’s much appreciated.

And first up is the final American Recordings title from the late, great Johnny Cash: VI: Ain’t No Grave. I want to say it was Rob who mentioned this on one of our podcasts (we only have two–so far–so you’d think I could keep them straight better but) and how incredibly powerful the album and the title track is. Sample it for yourself:

I believe the phrase is “all that and then some.” Ain’t No Grave is available from Amazon on both CD and MP3 download.

Next, the Danish group Efterklang with their first single from their latest album, Magic Chairs: it’s “Modern Drift.”

Magic Chairs is available from Amazon on both CD and MP3 download.

And let’s say you’re feeling like your energy level has dropped some, thanks to the farewell of The Man in Black plus some mellow Danish music. We have just the thing. From Amanda Palmer’s new project with Jason Webley, it’s “Elephant Elephant” by Evelyn Evelyn. I just have two words for you: “creepy frog.” This video is brilliant.

Evelyn Evelyn’s self-titled album is available from Amazon on both CD and MP3 download.
