C is for Carnage

Opinion Journal ran a piece on “Cookie Monster singing,” discussing how death-metal vocalists are basically, well, singing like Cookie Monster. Except, you know, for the bits about decapitation and disembowelment and such.

All this was news to people at Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind “Sesame Street.” “We have nothing to do with it,” said Ellen Lewis, vice president of corporate communications. “What is it?”

“It’s a whole new thing to me,” said Frank Oz, who originated the voice of the Cookie Monster. “I’ve never heard of it.”

What really blows our mind is how they missed a perfect opportunity to discuss the ultimate Cookie Monster singer, Cookie Mongoloid, whose song “Me Lost Me Cookie in the Mosh Pit” is a certifiable classic, if not just flat out certifiable.
