Halloween Movie Night No. 28: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919)

For tonight’s pick, we go back…waaay back to 1919 and the silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Arguably the first horror film, you’ll see bits in here that have been used as an inspiration for a crapload of other films.

And yes, that’s Conrad Veidt, who played The Man Who Laughs, which served as inspiration for The Joker.

The version I have here is the longer version, clocking in at around 71 minutes. A lot of versions of this online are only 51 minutes long, which the IMDB lists as the U.S. video version. But the version on the Kino restored edition is 75 minutes. No idea. But enjoy.
