32 Days of Halloween IX, Day 29: Mission Mars!

Mission Mars (1968)

Well, if we’re going for sci-fi tonight (and we are) and specifically Mars (yes, that too), I think there’s an obvious choice for what we open with. And we’ve made it.

For tonight’s feature film, we travel to the groovy year 1968 and Mission Mars. Darren McGavin (Kolchak) leads a crew to the red planet where they land in the midst of mystery! It’s directed by Nicholas Webster of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians fame. Any terror is provided by the soundtrack. Seriously. If you don’t have enough time to watch this wonderfully terribly film, please–I mean it, please–watch the opening credits and soak in the godawful opening theme song. Don’t worry, it won’t get stuck in your head. I just listened to it again and I can’t remember a bit of it. I guess I was smirking too loudly.
