32 Days of Halloween XVI, Day 12

Davey & Goliath

So first up for tonight, we go over to Kill_mR_DJ for a timely, Halloweeny mashup. Prodigy and  Yeah Yeah Yeahs with a flourish of Van Halen plus bonus visuals involving Jason Voorhees and you get “Voodoo Heads.”

I know it’s hard to believe…but some things actually pre-date me. One of those was the majority of the show Davey and Goliath. And yes, it was co-created by the guy who brought you Gumby. So if you see some style comparisons…that’s why. Here we have the only Halloween special the show had, from 1967.

So everyone knows about Deliverance, which came out in 1972. Success breeds studios and producers wanting to do something similar…and with Rituals (from 1977) they strayed further into straight up horror genre territory. A genre outing from Hal Holbrook. It’s a little weird to see a young Mark Twain in such a situation, but I’m sure you’ll cope. Enjoy.
