Headsup: Mummies, Genies, Ninjas & Beasties

There’s a lot of stuff that comes out all the time, and the companies are want your attention and mostly…your coin. But, you know, it’s your coin and you have to take care where you spend it. With these posts we try to take you through recent releases so you can make up your mind. If you find the info here to be of use, do us a favor and purchase stuff from Amazon through us. Especially if you were going to buy the stuff anyway. That gives us kickbacks, which help pay for things. Like the server. And coffee. And therapy. We thank you.

Mick Garris vs. The Raven

Boris Karloff in The Raven

One of the best bits from Trailers From Hell we’ve seen from an informational point of view, director Mick Garris takes on Roger Corman’s “The Raven,” revealing how it was the first horror-comedy he saw as a child…at least the first well done intentional horror-comedy…

Chris Dimino: One Flew Over the Shining Cuckoo Clock

Chris Dimino: The Shining Cuckoo Clock

This is sheer, unadulterated genius: a cuckoo clock where Jack Nicholson, as Jack Torrance, crashes through the door every hour on the hour and yells “Heeeere’s Johnny!” Oh, and Shelley Duvall screams bloody murder.

It appears that this bit by Chris Dimino is just a work of art at this point, but sweet damn, I want one. I want an entire line of horror-themed cuckoo clocks. “They’re Coming to Get You, Barbara,” followed by Johnny coming through the door after her like towards the end of the film? Hell yes. Hell yes.

I also wish we had a video of the thing in action. I guess we’ll have to make do with the original, posted after the break.

Clock found via Engadget.
