#TrackoftheDay: “Voodoo Woman”

Curtis Knight
USA (1961)

I had somehow missed the Jimi Hendrix connection with Curtis Knight and instead I had gotten all of his solo recordings (not even with Knight’s band The Squires). But yeah, apparently a big part of Knight’s claim to fame was that he played with Hendrix for a bit before Hendrix left for England. Then there was much legal jostling as the recordings of those Hendrix/Knight sessions got released. The saga appears to be summarized well on Knight’s Wikipedia (which is always right) page. Anyway, this track appears to be his first ever single, from 1961. Enjoy.
