09.30.09 by Widge @ 12:14 am ![]() Bursting forth from its casements once more, unsatisfied with possessing the month of October alone, Halloween stakes its claim to September 30th as well. That's right: sequels can kill. Welcome to 32 Days of Halloween PART III. Out first year out, we started with Mickey. Then last year, it was over to Bugs. Now, back to Mickey, with a 1995 animated short from Disney that's so good, you'd swear it had come directly from Pixar. Runaway Brain. Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

10.31.08 by Widge @ 7:00 pm ![]() Yes, I know this was also last year's pick. But it is Night of the Living Dead after all. And not a cheap remake substitute. The real thing. And it's Halloween. And this is where the film belongs. Direct link for the feedreaders. Thanks again everyone. It's been more fun and less stress than I would have imagined. Will there be a Part III next year? Mayhap... Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

10.31.08 by Widge @ 3:15 am ![]() Christ, I can't believe it's over already. 32 Days of Halloween PART 2 is about to draw to a close. I'd like to thank everybody who turned out to see our parade of weirdness, I'd like to thank everybody who sent in stuff and the staff, especially Rox, Rob and Scott. Still one more movie to go--and I bet you can guess what it is--but for now, here's some bits that I couldn't fit in anywhere else and I felt you should have them before we close for another year. First up, "Uncle" Vincent hosts something for the kiddies. Is there anybody who wouldn't want Vincent Price to read you a story? Is there an audio collection of the masters of horror reading fairy tales? If not, WHY NOT? Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

10.30.08 by Widge @ 9:39 pm ![]() Criminy, is this almost over already? I'm shocked and appalled by this notion. Well, since last year we posted the original Lon Chaney 1923 version, this year we throw you the 1939 Charles Laughton remake: Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

10.30.08 by Widge @ 2:43 am ![]() That's right...the crazed sequels! You think studios these days want to make a quick buck? Back in the day they were some quick bucks. Okay, so...you thought Jason X was wacky...in 1942's Invisible Agent, the grandson of the original Invisible Man, takes on the Axis! Well? Wouldn't you? Direct link for the feedreaders. 10.29.08 by Widge @ 1:35 am ![]() Since this time last year we were primarily concerned with surviving the undead coming to kick our asses, let's pair a couple of trailers that I think would make a hellacious twofer at a vintage drive-in. What say you? First up: John Carradine. Peter Cushing. Undead Nazis. Why, it must be Shock Waves: Direct link for the feedreaders. Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

10.28.08 by Widge @ 7:00 pm ![]() Last year we watched Plan 9 From Outer Space...and I still can't find its obvious companion piece, Robot Monster, in a form I can post here. So we'll just have to go with something else from outer space... Teenagers From Outer Space! As if regular teenagers weren't terrifying enough... Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween
