32 Days of Halloween VI, Day 13: Grinch Night

Halloween is Grinch Night

Day 13 of 32 Days of Halloween traditionally kicks off with a family friendly special of some kind. And we look to the 1978 How the Grinch Stole Christmas prequel, Halloween is Grinch Night, which puts Hans Conreid in the role originated by the late Boris Karloff. If Conreid’s name doesn’t ring any bells–he was the voice of Disney‘s Captain Hook. Whereas Christmas was an adaptation, Dr. Seuss himself wrote the teleplay for this one. And yes, a prequel because The Grinch is mean–either that, or this is the Earth-2 Grinch.

If you’d like some more Day 13 picks for kids, previously we’ve checked out Bradbury’s Halloween Tree, 1987’s DTV Monster Hits, Frankenweenie, The Night That Dracula Saved the World and Year One before we decided on a theme we had the Day of the Dead trailer in Japanese.
